Paper cutting progress

Paper Panda DIY Papercut from template
As you will have seen in my previous post, I recently purchased a Paper Panda papercut template 'I Love You' and thought it would be a lovely Mother's Day gift for my crafty Mum!

As this was my first papercut I wanted to make sure it was up to standard and ended up cutting the template twice just to make sure it was as crisp as I could get it.

The first time I had used a scalpel I had in already, but for the second one I ordered the set from the Paper Panda website so I got an even sharper edge.
I think you can see  the tiny details you need to be able to cut around and the sharper the tool the better, but obviously the more likely you could be to slip and cut further than you should.

I printed the design onto hammered white card, it was a good thickness to ensure a quality finish but this meant it did require some pressure to cut through - cue achy fingers!

I ordered some custom frames as I wanted to set my finished design between two sheets of glass.  I cut a 15mm square border for around the edge of the frame so you didn't see the metal fasteners keeping the glass in place and then set the finished infilled papercut in the centre of the frame.

For a first go I am really pleased with the cut, but I will be sourcing some better coloured papers for the rose and flower infills as I used some baby pink/baby blue and now I can see they don't show up well enough but a minor detail for a first go.

Give it a try, it is very satisfying when completed!
